Symptoms of Neuropathy


Symptoms of neuropathy depend on the nerves affected in the different parts of the body. It could one of the following; motor, sensory, or autonomic. What usually happens is that only one type of nerve is affected, but there are cases that more than one type of nerves are affected at the same time.

Cramps, muscle weakness, and spasms are some of the indicators that the motor nerves are damaged. There are even cases where patients experience additional symptoms like loss of balance and coordination.

Pain that neuropathy causes can be described in various ways, depending on the experience of the patient. But normally, the patient experiences a kind of numbness in the area affected by neuropathy, tingling in the joints, and what patients usually describe as wearing an invisible sock or glove.

But these are not the only symptoms that accompany neuropathy. A numer or more serious symptoms may occur such as involuntary dysfunctions because of the nerve damage. Other symptoms include abnormal blood pressure and heart rate, incontinence, and sexual dysfunction.
